Privacy Policy
Your privacy is fundamental to how we built ThinkByte.
Last updated: June 3, 2026
Our Privacy Promise
- All AI processing happens on your device
- We never see or store your conversations
- No tracking, no analytics on your personal data
- Your data never leaves your phone
- You have complete control over your information
How ThinkByte Protects Your Privacy
ThinkByte is designed from the ground up to protect your privacy. Unlike traditional AI services, ThinkByte runs entirely on your device. This means:
On-Device Processing
All AI models run locally on your phone. Your conversations are processed without any internet connection.
No Cloud Storage
We don't have servers storing your data. Everything stays on your device, under your control.
What Information We Collect
We collect minimal information, only what's necessary to provide the service and improve our website:
Google Analytics (Website & App)
We use Google Analytics on both our website and mobile app to understand usage patterns:
- Website: Page views, browsing behavior, device/browser info, approximate location (city/country), referral sources
- App: Which features are used, which AI models are popular, app performance metrics, device type and OS version, approximate location (city/country)
Important: Google Analytics does NOT collect or track your AI conversations, prompts, or any content you create in the app. Your conversations remain 100% private and on-device.
Additional Analytics
Beyond Google Analytics, we collect anonymous usage data:
- Crash reports (app & website - technical data only, no personal info)
- General usage patterns (completely anonymous)
- Performance metrics (app speed, website responsiveness)
What We Never Collect
The most important things we never collect or access:
- Your conversations with AI
- Personal information you share in chats
- Your prompts or messages to the AI
- Photos or files you discuss with the AI
- Any content from your device storage
- Contact information from your device
Note: While we collect approximate location (city/country level) through Google Analytics for website and app usage analytics, we never collect precise GPS location or track your movements.
Your Privacy Rights
You have complete control over your data in ThinkByte:
Access Your Data
All your data is stored locally on your device. You can access it anytime through the app.
Delete Your Data
Delete conversations or clear all data directly in the app settings. When you delete the app, all data is removed.
Export Your Data
Export your conversations anytime. Your data is yours to keep and move as you wish.
Third-Party Services
We use minimal third-party services to provide ThinkByte and improve our website:
- Apple App Store: For app distribution. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics 4 (Website & App): We use Google Analytics on both our website and mobile app to understand usage and improve the user experience:
- Website: Pages visited, time spent, browser type, device info, location, referral sources
- App: Features used, AI model preferences, app performance, device type, OS version, location
Critical Privacy Protection: Google Analytics does NOT and CANNOT access your AI conversations, prompts, messages, or any content you create in the app. All AI processing happens entirely on your device, and your conversations never leave your phone.
The analytics data we collect is limited to usage patterns (which features are used, not what you say to the AI) and technical metrics (app performance, crash prevention). See Google's Privacy Policy and Google Analytics Data Collection.
- Crash Reporting Service (App & Website): We use a third-party service to detect and fix crashes and bugs on both our mobile app and website. This service may collect technical information about crashes, including device type, operating system version, browser type (for website), error details, and anonymized IP addresses for geolocation. No personal data or conversation content is included in crash reports.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website (thinkbyte.app) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to provide and improve our services:
Types of Cookies We Use
- Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics uses cookies to track website usage and generate statistics. These cookies collect information in an anonymous form.
- Preference Cookies: We may use cookies to remember your preferences (like dark mode settings).
Important: Cookies are only used on our website (thinkbyte.app), not in the ThinkByte mobile app. The app uses standard mobile analytics SDKs (Google Analytics for Firebase) which do not use cookies. Your AI conversations remain completely offline and private.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of our website. Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you prefer.
Children's Privacy
ThinkByte is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you're a parent and believe your child has provided information, please contact us.
Data Retention
ThinkByte App - Your Conversations: All your AI conversations and app data are stored locally on your device. You have complete control - data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app. We never store your conversations on our servers.
Analytics Data (Website & App): Google Analytics data (usage patterns, not conversation content) is automatically retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. This retention period complies with GDPR requirements and helps us understand long-term trends while minimizing data storage.
Crash Reports: Crash report data is retained for 90 days to help us identify and fix bugs, then automatically deleted.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy occasionally. We'll notify you of any significant changes through the app. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when we last made changes.
Legal Compliance
ThinkByte is designed to comply with major privacy regulations including:
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)
- CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act)
- COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)
Our privacy-first design means we exceed most requirements by simply not collecting personal data in the first place.
